Update – 01/26/12

Happy New Year, everyone. I know I’m a bit late, but it’s still January and I haven’t wished one to you all this entire time. I have set some ambitious goals for myself for 2012 and I hope to accomplish them all… and then some! I currently have some projects in line for Robin Hannibal, SiairaShawn, and Eric Lau, so definitely keep an eye out. The music videos for Siaira and Eric are especially special to me as these are going to be their first music video releases! Also, I am working on a live performance of Jose James at The New Parish and that should be out soon.

I know I haven’t been releasing as many pieces lately, but as you all may know by now, grad school has been keeping me very busy. As it gets closer to the graduation date (June ’12!), my presence will be more and more scarce, but I hope to still be able to put things out in the minimal free time that I have.

Thanks for staying with me and watching me grow over these past couple of years. It’s a great pleasure to read and see people’s reaction to my work. Thank you for your continued support and I hope to be able to share more of my videos with you as I continue to grow and develop.

Here’s a short piece I put together of a recent trip to Monterey of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I didn’t make it to the seahorse exhibit, but I hope the jellyfish are enough to hold you over!

Update – 10/20/11

Hey everyone!

I know it has been a while since I have updated my site and released new content, but I’m in my last year of grad school and it demands all of my time. Nonetheless, I am still trying to use the little free time I have to work on new projects. In the next week, or so, expect not one, but two music videos I directed from the likes of Robin Hannibal (of Boom Clap Bachelors and Quadron) and Mara Hruby. They both possess really different styles and aesthetics and I enjoyed creating them.

I also have some new music videos that will soon be in the works, one of which will feature Bay Area’s SiairaShawn. She’s currently doing a Kickstarter campaign to get her two videos funded off of her new EP. You can check out more of Siaira and donate here.

Stay tuned, folks, and many thanks for all of the continued support.

Boom Clap Bachelors – “Skynd Dig Langsomt”

Hey everyone!

I apologize for this late post, but I’ve been in LA for the past few days shooting a couple of music videos and had no time to post about the release of the latest music video that I directed, shot and edited for the Boom Clap Bachelors’ song, “Skynd Dig Langsomt” (which translates to “Hurry, Slowly” in English).

Best ISO Settings For Canon T2i (Tested on the 60D)

As someone who is still learning what ISO, aperture and shutter speed to use in various condition settings, I came across this guide that helps narrow down some of the best ISO settings to use when shooting. Tested on a 60D, these ISO setting suggestions also translates to the T2i, T3i and 7D, all of which use the same APS-C sensor.

New Technicolor Profile for Canon HD DSLRs (Including the T2i!)

I remember the first time that I learned about picture styles. I stumbled across a Vimeo tutorial featuring the Superflat style and how shooting in neutral tones opened up a world of possibilities when color correcting. Often relying on Superflat and Marvel’s Cine during shoots, I was extremely excited to learn about the collaboration between Technicolor and Canon and their resulting Technicolor Cinestyle, which is being heralded as possibly the best “picture style” for use with Canon HD DSLRs. Although designed specifically for the Canon 5DMKII, folks out there have already tested in on the T2i and are sharing their results.

Sneak Preview of New Motion Stabilizer for After Effects

A friend of mine sent me this really awesome sneak preview of the new motion stabilizer, the Warp Stabilizer, for After Effects. Check out the preview after the cut and watch Steve Forde, Adobe’s Product Manager for Adobe After Effects, demonstrate a new way to transform shaky footage in After Effects. This definitely looks like a tool that is going to very useful for DSLR shooters.

Update – 04/04/11

Hey all!

Just wanted to share what I’ve been up to lately with everyone. Grad school has been very successful at taking up most of my time these days, but it has challenged me to filter through projects and, not only take on work that have great meaning to me, but also push me to grow conceptually and creatively.

Updates

Hey all,

Just wanted to say thank you for all of the support over the past months. I’m nearing the end of my second quarter of grad school and will have just 10 days to work on a bunch of projects and get a lot of new material pushed out. It’s been very challenging to balance the demand of academia with the need to have my creative space for personal projects, but so far I think I’m producing and learning a great amount within the confines.

I have a lot of material, both as videos and as blog posts, that I’ll be sharing over the next couple of weeks, so please check back often to see what new content I’ll be releasing. I updated all of my film links so my most current work can be found between there and my Portfolio.

Thank you again for your continued support as I enter my second year of film making. It makes all of the difference!
